On Thursday 9 June, UNICT presented the Participation project during the visit of some post-docs (ESI – European Scientific Institute) at University of Catania, Department of Education. Two courses of the Department of Education participate to the event: the three-years course in psychological sciences and MA in Pedagogical Sciences. The meeting was held in blended mode and counted about 250 participants.
During this event the partner UNICT described first the general objective of PARTICIPATION and then the methodological choices behind the project, focusing above all on a literature review on counter-narrative communication strategies and the social Labs which are the local hubs that act as multipliers of the effectiveness of research and innovation actions by triggering local experiential learning processes.
In addition, the partner UNICT shared the first results of the research carried out at European and Italian level within the H2020 #PARTICIPATION project, in particular the following tasks:
- the results of Focus Group Gender (T2.3);
- the results of Focus Group with religious leaders (T3.4);
- the results from teachers surveyed about their experiences in dealing with polarising views entering the classroom school environment, along with additional data collected during a follow-up workshop (T3.5).
The meeting ended with a rich debate to discuss the issues, during which the students shared their views and experiences on social polarization and extremism.
